Our Blended Preschool Classes and Pre-Kindergarten are for children ages 3-5 with hearing loss and children with normal hearing. These classrooms rely on developmentally appropriate practices for young children and a specially designed curriculum for children with hearing loss so that all children learn in an active classroom that encourages listening, speaking, thinking, and social and self-advocacy skills.
Listen and Talk bases their practices on current information about the needs of children with hearing loss who are learning to listen, speak, and enter general education classrooms as early as kindergarten. We support appropriate programs and placements that provide children with hearing loss the skills necessary to optimally participate in general education settings at ages earlier than typically expected for children with any degree of hearing loss. All of the children in our classes benefit from the small classroom sizes and from the language rich environment provided by highly trained educators.
