Pam Yoshihara, MA, CED
Teacher of the Deaf

Pam has worked at Listen and Talk since the fall of 2002 as a preschool/pre-Kindergarten teacher. She holds a BS in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington, and MA in Special Education with an emphasis in Deaf/Hard of Hearing from San Francisco State University. Pam has worked with children since she was 12 years old, starting with babysitting, to working at a childcare center, to volunteering, and now teaching. She loves working at Listen and Talk with such wonderful children, staff, and families.

Mandy Frost, BA, CED
Teacher of the Deaf, Early Intervention Specialist

Mandy has worked at Listen and Talk since January 2006 as a preschool teacher. She also is part of our Parent-Infant program, providing therapy to several families. She was only supposed to be in Seattle for 6 months, but very quickly fell in love with the area and has since stayed on the Listen and Talk staff as a preschool and pre-Kindergarten teacher. Mandy holds a dual Bachelor's degree from Fontbonne University in St. Louis in Deaf education and elementary education. Mandy has been involved with children from the age of 11, when she began babysitting. Since then, she's been a nanny for several families in past summers. She still loves to baby-sit when she can. That love for playing with and educating children was what lead Mandy to a career in education.

Rebecca Schumer, M. ED
Teacher of the Deaf, Early Intervention Specialist

Rebecca has worked at Listen and Talk since the summer of 2007 as a preschool teacher and a member of the Parent-Infant program. During the 2005-2006 school year Rebecca worked as an Educational Assistant at Listen and Talk and prior to that she completed a 4 month internship at Listen and Talk for her undergraduate degree. Rebecca received her undergraduate degree in Christian Education from Trinity Lutheran College in Issaquah, Washington. In the spring of 2007, she received her Masters degree in Special Education specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing from the University of San Diego. While enrolled in that program, Rebecca spent much of her time on-site at John Tracy Clinic in Los Angeles. Rebecca has worked with children for many years, including babysitting, volunteer work, tutoring and practicum work, as she knew she always wanted to be an educator..

Kitty Hollow, MA Ed
Early Childhood Specialist

Kitty has worked at Listen and Talk since the fall of 2006 as a preschool and pre-kindergarten teacher. She has a Masters in Education from Central WA University majoring in Special Education and Psychology. She completed her Early Childhood coursework from Utah State University. She began teaching special ed in 1976 and has taught in Seattle, Moxee, Yakima, Utah and Marysville. She has also taught early childhood classes for SLCC and CWU. She has held administrative positions as Early Childhood Coordinator in northern Utah, Seattle and Marysville. She has returned to the classroom because she enjoys working with the children more than administrative paperwork. She has worked with children and taken courses in Down's Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Severe Language Delays and Severe Behavior Disordered.

Andrea Burtis, SLPA

Andrea has worked at Listen and Talk since the fall of 2006 as an Educational Assistant. She currently works with Mandy Frost in a preschool class. She recently completed an AAAS degree and SLPA certification through Shoreline Community College which she utilizes daily in the classroom. Andrea loves working with children and is committed to her own continuing education of early childhood and speech/hearing sciences.

Becky Turner, SLPA

Becky has worked at Listen and Talk since the fall of 2006 as an Educational Assistant in Rebecca Schumer's preschool classes. Becky has a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Delaware. She taught typically developing preschoolers for many years and worked in the Edmonds School District in their autism support program before joining Listen and Talk. She completed the Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) program at Shoreline Community College.

Jennifer Zadow, SLPA

Jenn has worked at Listen and Talk since the fall of 2008. She is currently working in Kitty Hollow's Pre-K class. Prior to joining the Listen and Talk staff full time, she was a substitute at the school during the 2007-2008 school year. In the spring of 2009, Jenn completed the Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) program at Shoreline Community College.

Dustin Hamren

Dustin has worked at Listen and Talk since January 2009. He is currently working in Pam Yoshihara's Pre-K class. He is currently enrolled at Trinity College.

 

Anne Pfeil
Fine Arts Instructor


Anne started as our art and movement instructor in spring of 2008. She has a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from New Mexico State University, a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from University of Wisconsin, and Bachelors of Elementary Education and Psychology from University of Michigan. Anne worked for Seattle Art Museum in their education program for 12 years and also taught art at a Montessori school. Fine Arts program instruction made possible through generous grants from the: Beim Foundation, Glaser Foundation, Nesholm Family Foundation and Norcliffe Foundation.

Katy Webber
Fine Arts Instructor


Katy has been providing music lessons since spring of 2009. She has a Bachelors of Music from Cornish College and has been singing and playing the guitar for over 10 years. Since 2004, Katy has worked as an Early Childhood Music Teacher at the Seattle Symphony, Greenlake Community Center, and at other preschools around the Seattle area.
