Preston Dwoskin: Living a Life without Limits
The Listen and Talk Starlight Benefit Gala this month was a spectacular event filled with inspiration, motivation, and heart-warming stories. One of the highlights of the night was the presentation of the inaugural Mike and Sharon Hunter Life without Limits Award. This accolade is a testament to the Hunters’ dedication to Listen and Talk’s growth and honors their commitment to celebrating the achievements of Listen and Talk alumni who defy limitations through determination and a visionary spirit. We are elated to spotlight Preston Dwoskin as the deserving recipient of this award.
Preston’s Journey of Overcoming Challenges
From his early years, Preston demonstrated unwavering determination to live life without limits. Despite facing health challenges during infancy and toddlerhood, he joined Listen and Talk’s first pre-K class as a spirited and talkative preschooler. His resilience and zest for life quickly became evident, and he made his first media appearance as one of Eric’s Little Heroes on KOMO 4 at the age of 9. Preston also experienced bullying across his childhood. The support of his family, teachers, coaches, and an enduring friendship made all the difference, inspiring Preston to make a difference in our community.
Preston’s Community Involvement and Impact
As the years passed, Preston’s impact on the community deepened. He immersed himself in volunteer work, public speaking, and local and state government, leaving an indelible mark on those around him. His incredible parents, Phoebe and Rob, have supported him throughout his journey, proudly sharing that they can hardly keep up with his ever-growing list of achievements.
Preston has dedicated himself to numerous causes, including serving on the Snohomish County Arts Commission and the Board of the nonprofit, Be Legendary. The City of Marysville recognized him as Volunteer of the Month, and Preston has passionately coordinated speaking engagements to promote his anti-bullying platform, informing children of the importance of being a friend to others in their community. His recent testimony in Washington State Legislative hearings in support of Washington State House Bill 1222, which mandates health insurance coverage for hearing instruments, underscores his advocacy efforts for people with hearing level differences.
A Hometown Hero
In addition to receiving the Life without Limits Award, Preston, an avid sports fan, was recognized as a Seattle Mariners Hometown Hero on Sunday, April 2nd. This acknowledgement speaks volumes about Preston’s unwavering dedication to living life without limits and serving as a beacon of inspiration for others.
Preston Dwoskin is a shining example of living life to the fullest. His story of overcoming adversity and his passion for making a difference in the community and beyond are truly inspirational. As we celebrate Preston’s achievements and recognition as the first Life without Limits honoree, we are reminded of the power of resilience, determination, and a visionary spirit of the families and children we serve at Listen and Talk. Congratulations, Preston!
