How do I give my child enough time to process information?
- Wait time is the strategy of providing 5-1o seconds of silence to allow your child ample processing time.
- A child needs the space to process what was heard, identify how it relates to the current circumstances and previous experience, and determine an appropriate response.
- All of this processing takes time and when ample wait time is provided then a child has the opportunity to fully engage in that listening and learning experience.
